Thursday’s SD Inbound Marketing event was just what we needed for some end of the week inspiration. All of us coming together again confirmed that San Diego marketers are always looking for ways to improve and eager learn the newest trends in video content strategy and marketing.

The event kicked off at 3:00 pm and we were greeted by friendly faces who made sure we picked up some swag and beer tokens.video-content-strategy-seminar.jpg

Big news, the SD Inbound Marketing leaders announced they are producing a unique Inbound related event in 2017 and want the audience's vote to name the event. You can still vote on the event name.

After that, we headed over to pick up some chips and guac, hummus and warm flat bread.  We seem to feel right at home at Stone Brewing which made it easy for both newcomers and regulars to meet new friends and make connections.

Our first speaker, Margot Mazur (@margotcodes) flew all the way from Boston to be with us in sunny SD and spoke about the importance of analytics when using video in your marketing strategy. Everyone walked away with at least one idea about how they could create effective videos.

"77% of consumers have been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a video. " Click to Tweet This!

Here are some of our favorites:

  • Video content doubles time on site
  • Custom video thumbnails increase playrate
  • Videos are great lead generation tools

Next up, Justin Edelman (@JustinEfilms) shared his tweetable insights.

"Telling a good story is the key to great video content. " Click to Tweet This!

Other takeaways From Justin included:

  • Take the time to make sure you have good audio
  • A picture is worth a thousand words. And one minute of video is worth 1.8 million
  • Social video is the future
  • A good video has strategy

Believe it or not, even more awesome was in store at Stone Brewing. We capped off the evening with a lively Q&A session and asked an expert panel about DIY video production, product videos, budgets and more. Read our raw notes here.

One of our panelists, Summer Felix from The Draw Shop, even offered us all an exclusive discount on their whiteboard videos! Only $1200 per produced minute for your whiteboard animation video! (normally $1500). Email lorey@thedrawshop.com and mention SD Hubspot!

Also we would like to welcome our first official group sponsor Animus Studios. You may have seen them filming at past events, they even did our Inbound Marketing Week  2014 video.

Be sure to wrap up your summer with your fellow SD marketers at our next SD Inbound Marketing event on 8/18. We'll meetup again at Stone Brewing with a guest speaker you won't want to miss. Plus...beer tokens.

Wish you could watch these presentations yourself? You're in luck. We will have a video for you soon. Subscribe to the blog to ensure you get it. You can also read all the notes form our video content strategy seminar.
